Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Loaves and Baskets ("we", "us"), the website and app at loavesnbaskets.com that helps groups split a restaurant bill. By using it, you agree to these terms.

What we do

A host scans a receipt, friends join by QR code, pick what they had and their own tip, and pay the host their share. The host pays the restaurant. We help with the math and the payment; we are not a party to the meal or to any agreement between you and your friends or the restaurant.

Payments are handled by Stripe and PayPal

• We are not a bank and do not hold your money. Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. or PayPal, Inc., and go directly to the host's Stripe or PayPal account.
• Hosts who get paid through Stripe agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. Hosts who use PayPal agree to PayPal's User Agreement.
• Friends paying a host who uses Venmo or Cash App pay outside our app, under those companies' terms.

Fees

• Friends paying in the app pay a convenience fee, shown before they pay. It covers card processing and the Loaves and Baskets fee, so the host receives their friend's full share.
• Hosts using the Venmo, Cash App or PayPal.me option pay the Loaves and Baskets fee for each person at the table, themselves included (it's included in friends' totals). If they save a card, it's charged when they tap Pay restaurant, or when they next start a bill. Until it's paid, they can't start a new bill.
• Fees are not refundable once a payment is completed, except where the law requires otherwise.

Your responsibilities

• Check the scanned receipt. Receipt reading is automatic and can make mistakes; hosts can fix items.
• Hosts are responsible for paying the restaurant.
• Disagreements between friends about who had what, or between you and a restaurant, are between you. Contact us if a payment itself went wrong and we'll help where we can.
• Don't use the app for anything illegal, to move money that isn't for a shared bill, or to misuse anyone's payment details.

Age

You must be at least 13 to use Loaves and Baskets. If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission. Getting paid through Stripe or PayPal requires being 18 or older; hosts under 18 can use the Venmo Teen or Cash App option, which requires an account opened by a parent or guardian.

The service

We provide the app "as is" and may change, pause or stop features. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for more than the fees you paid us in the 3 months before a claim. We may suspend use that breaks these terms.

Changes

We may update these terms. We'll change the date above, and continuing to use the app means you accept the update.
